Biography

Barış Çavuşoğlu (b. 1994) is a visual artist working primarily as an animator and sculptor. They began their academic studies in 3D Visual Effects at Escape Studios in London, later earning a BSc in Computer Science with Games Technology from City, University of London. In 2018, Çavuşoğlu relocated to Berlin and joined Random, a collective dedicated to animation and design. The following year, they moved to Los Angeles to pursue an MFA in Experimental Animation at the California Institute of the Arts, graduating in 2023.

Their work has received international recognition, with animations shown at venues and festivals including Annecy International Animation Film Festival, REDCAT Theatre, OVNi Festival (France), Lithuanian International Shorts, Heavy Manners Library (Los Angeles), and Dutch Design Week. Alongside their personal projects and exhibitions, Çavuşoğlu has worked as a freelance animation director for Adult Swim, contributing to the network's eclectic programming.

In November 2021, they collaborated with Kid Xanthrax on a dual presentation titled #SLIPGNOSIS at BSMNT Leipzig, Germany. Their first solo exhibition, Hit Me Baby One More Time, was held at Barın Han in Istanbul in 2022, followed by a second solo show, RTV-2 HRPgül, at the Ritz-Carlton in Istanbul in 2024.

In September 2024, Çavuşoğlu founded BENTA, an independent art space in Istanbul focused on showcasing visual arts and animation. In April 2025, they opened their third solo exhibition at BENTA, titled evim yuva. Currently based in Istanbul, Barış Çavuşoğlu continues to develop a singular and loud style, merging engineering, grotesque cartooning and design with non-linear narratives through sculpture, video art, and installation.
